According to Tesla, the three-motor AWD Cybertruck is capable of towing as much as the larger Cybertruck F-250 and Silverado 2500 models. Therefore, the Cybertruck delivers truck-like capability for towing trailers, equipment, and cargo or worksite usability. However, the towing range may be compromised in long-distance towing situations.

Off-Road Performance

Cybertruck is designed for booming off-roading straight from production as it boasts adjustable air suspension offering 16 inches of clearance and 35/28 approach/Departure angles. Coupled with instant electric torque for accurate low-speed rock-scrambler crawling, it’s one-pedal driving, which most conventional pickups cannot match, let alone one invulnerable beneath from side and underneath impacts.

The trade-off might be derived from a much higher battery pack mass than conventional trucks. Indeed, critical off-road users will find solace in its functionality in handling some challenging terrain.

Drivers who use it for very long daily commutes and don’t have / can’t access home/workplace charging may have restrictions regarding refueling that traditional trucks do not yet have. The internet of charging stations is still fragile compared to what we see with gas or diesel.

Unproven Reliability

The Cybertruck is Tesla’s first dedicated electric pickup. While it’s hotly anticipated, it only benefits from the same years in the field, if not mileage on fleet-scale testing, that other hot sellers like Ford and Chevy have had. It can take a couple of model years to determine its durability, how easy it is to repair, and how easily its components can be sourced.  

Two other critical factors that remain a mystery right now are the resale value and the cost of owning and replacing spare parts. Companies using pickups need some specific degrees of low cost of ownership together with reliability, which are still unknowns today and should make some commercial users think twice before adopting the new models outright.

Cybertruck Price Factors

In other cases, another critical aspect is the size of the unknown insurance/repair costs.
Due to vehicles developed by Tesla, higher-than-average insurance quotes are predicted to be higher than similar gasoline models, so it remains to be seen whether insurance for Cybertruck will increase, too. Anomalies in batteries range from accidents to the rarity of spare parts, which are some of the challenges insurers currently struggle to address.

Repairs for such damage could also be costly if the parts required in a collision repair shop are only starting to be sourced on a large scale for EV trucks by manufacturers who need to be more conversant with the specific electric truck models. Due to its novelty, Cybertruck may have the exact disadvantages regarding ownership as any other novel vehicle category from the standpoint of unproven actuary data for some time after its mass production.

Who Tesla Cybertruck Would Be Perfect For?

Those who like possessing the newest things and being ahead of the curve in automotive technology could buy Cybertruck just because of such a futuristic design. The auto industry waits with bated breath to see if Musk’s electric upstart can convince dedicated pickup truck states to leave their gas brands after 50+ years – or is just a sideshow seeking fans. The Cybertruck might be the first salvo of a progressive shift toward electric and pickup trucks. However, some skepticism remains about when essential prerequisites for EVs in high-demanding truck applications are present – or perhaps those who take EVs today are more akin to patient guinea pigs for carmakers for several more years.
